I’m wondering if this was the story selected by the person who pledged for the WISH package over at Kickstarter. If so, then it looks like they made a popular wish.

Nope, this story was in our original lineup. Louisa is illustrating the tale chosen by the pledger and it will be complete sometime in February 2013.

Oh, I know this one! It’s so cute and sweet … a bit sad in places, but really beautiful. I wish it was more popular. Although, from the responses that have been posted so far, it seems to be more widely-known than I had perviously realized.

I remember watching this story on Grimm’s Fairy Tale Classics when I was a kid. It was one of my favorite stories afterward.

Am I the only one remembering this tale as really really REALLY scary? As a child it made me uncomfortable. It was told with a creepy tone and with a sound landscape that scared the shit out of me >__< maybe thats a more lighthearted version than?

Well, it’s a bit mixed IMO. It’s both sweet and scary at times–but then again that’s true with most of The Grimm fairy tales.

Ok, so there’s this book called Of giants and ice that’s basically goes to this magic after school program where fairy tales are real. Anyway, there are these two characters that don’t get alot of mention, basically a sentence that said:
‘ The girl feeding the deer glared at her when she saw her staring, the deer frowning and said in a boy’s voice:
    : What’re YOU looking at?
Basically I was like what the heck, because I knew it was some kind of fairytale, but I didn’t know what. I think I’m about to get my answer. : D

OMG! This was one of my favorites as a kid (right after The Wild Swans, if we’re talking unconventional fairy tales)– there was an animated tv version that I adored!!!

To be sure, there’s a certain — commonality. Which we will virtuously not mention on account of it’s all spoilery.

I’m trying to decide whether to keep up with this one as it’s posted, or leave the site alone for several weeks and let it build up so I can read more story in one go.
