I’m just about to have a baby any day now, and these last few pages with her cuddling her baby as a ghost absolutely breaks my heart

I know how you feel. I just had my 2nd daughter a couple months ago and seeing this just tears me up inside, and I have to hold her, even if that means she stays up for the rest of the night. I just need to hold her.

It can be spelled both ways.

But it was spelt Fawn the first visit and Faun the last two. It’s been spelt both ways thus far in this one strip.

If it is any consolation, Rapunzel, here is a comic of the same story where the brother is turned into a satyr.

Actually, technically it cannot. Interchangeably using Faun and Fawn are not like spelling color/colour.

Fawn refers to a young deer.

Faun refers to a creature that is human with goat legs and little horns.

The last two panels, with the juxtaposed expression on the mother’s face and the king’s look…

Just too much. I need a good cry now. I want to see what happens!

The anguish really shows in the 4th panel. Very well done!

Me: “Sir! Do you finally understand?!?”
King: “I’m not sure, I must investigate more!”
Me: “What?!? Seriously all of the answers are right there! Are you blind?!?”
King: “I’m wearing glasses, and don’t question the king!”
Me: “Very well… but I still say it’s pretty obvious.”
    King: “Obvious? I’m still confused!”
Me: “Have you ever read the Grimm Stories?”
    King: “No.”
Me: “Do some looking up then.”

That close up panel is just right. The bittersweet smile, the brief bliss of babyhood, the small head tucked between her cheek and neck, the sideways tear. You’ve totally got it!

I’m slightly confused unless I’m not seeing a missing page. The previous page was the king asking the witch what was going on, the next is now this page, leaving a chunk of info missing.

I think he tried to confirm that his wife was still there, saw the disguised stepsister in the bed, and tonight he is trying to confirm once and for all which one is true before he’s out of time.

On the previous page, the King was once again denied access to his wife after having witnessed what appears to be a ghost of his wife that past night. So on this page it is the following night, the night the ghost said would be the last time she would come. The King has come again to see the ghost and try to make sense of the situation.

I am just … well … (tearing up). Ahhhh….come on, dude-this is the missus! Get her! Hug her! NOOOWWWW!!!
On a side note, the oldest child died at infancy. No one should go thru that. But even more so the evil beset upon the queen-he desperately needs to bring her back to this world & SLAY WITHOUT PREJUDICE (or is that Terminate Without Prejudice) the stepmother & her daughter! Period. End of debate.

It’s a fairytale, so the stepfamily is probably going to executed. Probably in a weird way.
