I thought she died in a bathtub, you know, unclad.
Oh, and you expect us dead people to just wander around in such fashion! I would like to remind you that just because we are dead does not mean we are no longer sensible, and sensible people would not have the nerve to do that. You, sir, are a high cad!
…That just made my day. Have a cookie.
I’m a girl.
Then you, ma’am, are a high cad. Please forgive Johhny for making assumptions.
I can’t. I’m a cad, remember?
A fine riposte, that.
I make fine tortes, too.
Wait, what? Is she no longer a ghost? o.O
Yep, that’s about right.
Then the King could not restrain himself; he sprang towards her, and said, “You can be none other than my dear wife.” She answered, “Yes, I am your dear wife,” and at the same moment she received life again, and by God’s grace became fresh, rosy, and full of health.
I love this version much more than the version I’ve read previously…
He said the magic word ~^.^~
That’s what I was thinking! hahah
*chuckles*
Yes. Yes, he did.
Yay for fairy tale magic!
It’s not all smiles and sunshine, though–they’re gonna have to hire an after-hours nanny now.
WHAAAT!!!!
YES! MY FAVORITE PART OF THE STORY! And it is done SO BEAUTIFULLY!
God, I’m so happy to see this :)
Your favourite part is the blatant deus ex machina?
I wish it were that easy.
Whew, I was worried for a minute there. but Yay!
This is way better than what I was expecting to happen: i.e. he gets a glimpse of disguised step-sister’s missing eye and step-mother tells him something along the lines of how he needs to kill the fawn for some reason to cure it.
That’s what I thought!
For a story called Brother and Sister, their relationship has so little to do with the actual plot. The king could have just discovered her living in the woods on his own instead of that hunt subplot, and you would get the same story. I hope the brother actually becomes meaningful to the story before it ends…
Well, she is the one with reason, she would not have run off into the woods without her brother urging her to.
Also, magic is cool, thus needed. The kids listen much better if the brother is included in the story.
BTW,
@artists: again, a wonderful illustration of the storypart told. Thank you.
The brother is very important. He is important because he has been turned into a faun. The word faun rhymes with the word gone, which makes Jane’s sad lines sound cooler.
Actually, I was sort of missing the sibling dynamic as well. I love sibling tales so I was a little disappointed that it doesn’t have more to do with them.
Don’t worry, you’ll get another sibling story eventually hehe.
“Well that was easy!”
This is how it goes in the actual tale so yeah, another fairy tale logic point again lol. I just wish I could see some kissing action lol.
Oh, here’s another thought: Love can even conquer death. In the Animated tale of this, they change things alot to the storyline. There was no step-sister and the witch actually kidnaps the Sister and it’s the manifestation of her love for the child and king that visits the baby instead of her being killed.
My favorite part in the animated version is how the stepmother witch wanders around dejectedly banging into trees moaning about how she lost to the power of love.
you know, i had heard about it but I wasn’t going to watch it, now that I know that that happens, I may need to go find it
I think the baby looks kind of blue in the first panel. Maybe it’s just her glowing but it looks dead to me…
It does kind of look like she’s smothering him, lol.
… I had imagined that she would have had the curse lifted during a royal concession… though, that’s just by how I interpreted it. This is still a really neat interpretation of the story. Now the witch just needs to be set a blaze and the other curses need lifting….
At least no one had to call ghostbusters
Someone has to call ghostbusters to let them know about this neat trick.
*click* That was easy!
That was drawn so beautifully. It was fantastically done.
Aww… that makes the scene so much sweeter. Having him beg her not to leave him.
Oh wow, just beautifully done! So amazing.
YAY!!! I AM SO HAPPY!!!!
Talk about a lover’s embrace!
And now for those two royal bitc- I mean witches:

XD! That link is perfect.
Awww… that’s so sweet!! Make me cry :’)
That. *sniff* *sniff* was SO beautiful!!!
P.S love the third and fourth panel. Amazing!!!
Huh, not what I was expecting. I thought the king just wanted her for her white fawn and that the baby was a plus. Him actually caring is not what I got from his random proposal pages ago, lol. Ohhh, the evil step-mother and sister better get hung or beheaded or this is not going to be a very good fairy tale ending! ^_^ Off with their evilness!
A good Grimm fairy tale never ends without a gruesome punishment for those who’ve done wrong. I assure you, you shall not be disappointed.
Lol I know their last names are actually Grimm, but their last name suits these tales lol.
Yay!
I guess the power of love brought her back to life
Sooooooo……. what’s going on with the BROTHER? cause I feel like we haven’t heard anything from him since before the wedding so that’s at least 9 months lol
He is a venison.
They don’t really react to ghosts.
Bro has been a very good uncle, staying in the nursery with his little nephew. Too bad Bro is such a sound sleeper that he never noticed his SISTER’S GHOST — helloooo??? :-)
I like this king. He reminds me of my husband. :)
OMG DA POWA OV LUV HAS SAVED HERRRR!! D8
those were my, admittedly rather unrefined, views on this page.
… Its necromantic.
Apparently it takes an especially half-arsed love (the kind where you instantly marry random girls you find in the woods) to raise the dead. This is why it doesn’t usually work.
Or else she wasn’t actually dead. She was just wandering around the house covered in talcum powder or somesuch.
