This story, known in German as Die kluge Bauerntochter, is by far one of my favorite Grimm’s Tales and is what inspired me to start the Erstwhile project. At the end of the story, I will have more notes about why it’s my favorite and why it is so special among the tales. In the meantime, please enjoy this lesser-known Grimm’s fairy tale.

I love this tale! It is one of my faves
I had a picture book of this when I was a child, I remember the fishnet :)
I learned this story during a university storytelling class. Always one of my favourites, and great to see it illustrated!
I just found this website through Lora Innes comic. I like your drawing style. I’ve only just begun reading but the first few pages makes this very intriguing!
