1. The latest addition is the Top Web Comics vote button. This is a great way to show your support without any financial involvement. When you vote, our site moves higher on the list. 2. A fan art section has been added to the menu bar! When you click on it you will find our very first Erstwhile fan art (thanks J.E.) and, of course, you should feel free to submit your own. Louisa, Elle, and I would be tickled to receive it and will post it in the fan art section with a link to your site in thanks.

3. Donation button added. Erstwhile is a webcomic that updates every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, free of charge. This comic is supported solely by reader donations and banner ads. Obviously, you are not obligated to send anything. However, donations of any amount are most appreciated and you get a bonus desktop wallpaper as a thank you!

There are many different variations of All Fur and even slightly different versions interpreted from this version of the tale. Some retellings water it down a bit. For instance, the Grimm’s Fairy Tale Classics animated series had the beginning tell that the princess had to flee her kingdom because it was under attack. Don’t get me wrong, I just LOVE that series and have all the episodes in my collection.

We chose the version from The Complete Fairy Tales of the Brothers Grimm which takes the tale from the version published in 1812. One of the things we are trying to do with Erstwhile is tell the stories as purely as possible. Of course, we are going to interpret them and put our own touch on them, but we’re not changing the facts of the stories. We’re telling the grim reality of Grimm’s fairy tales.

Yes, the King’s actions ARE HORRIFYING and WRONG. There is the “eww” factor involved. That’s really the point of it. It’s supposed to be this terrible, unacceptable conclusion.
