BTW, just a thought, do you guys take suggestions for stories to do? I have a couple childhood favorites – though I must admit I’m not sure they’re Grimm tales, as I got them from reading the Fairy books (Red Fairy Book, Green Fairy Book, etc).

Anyway, if you do take suggestions, have you considered the Twelve Dancing Princesses or the Half-Chick?

Twelve dancing princesses would take forever to finish, but it would be AWESOME! I second that motion!

Twelve Dancing Princesses would indeed be fun.

I think The Light Princess is too recent (therefore copyright issues), or I’d request it, as it’s one of my favorites and would be so much fun to see illustrated this way.

How about The King of the Golden River? It’s a bit disjointed as fairy tales go but it’s a tale I grew up on. At one point I even crafted a Warcraft-themed variant of it.

Or perhaps Ting-a-Ling and the Five Magicians?

I would die of joy if you guys did The Two Brothers. It’s long, but I loved it as a kid.

“The Death of the Little Hen” is hellishly dark.

Moot point, but the ‘Fairy Book’s’ aren’t actually fairy stories in an accurate sense, and hardly even faerie tales. Tolkien wrote a very eloquent essay on the topic wherein he states that point. You should (all) read it! (YAY TOLKIEN BEING AWESOME+BEING PROFESSOR!)

Aww, how sweet. I’m a sucker for happy parent-child relationships. (And I just want to add my voice to the chorus that appreciates the fact you feature people of color in your stories.)

You’re not going to be too happy soon about the parent-child relationship. This is a heartbreaking tale.

To be honest, I didn’t really notice. I have been so into the stories, I never consider whether they are white, black, or hispanic, or asian. Also since these stories take place in faraway lands, it would only natural that some would white and some black and so on and so forth. That really is the best part about fairy tales. They can take place almost anywhere.

I can’t take the suspense! I think I’m going to start crying right now because they’re so loving and happy and cute and I just know something awful is going to happen!

I also second (third!) the 12 dancing princesses. Its a good story, not too depressing, and I would love to see how you guys imagine/draw princesses.

oh yeah, 12 dancing princesses would be fantastic, just seeing all the dresses you guys come up with alone would be worth it. XD

I was actually one of the princesses in my elementary school play, so that would be doubly awesome for me!

Also, based on what I’ve been reading in the comments-not to mention the rather ominous title-I can tell that this tale is not going to have a happy ending…
