I’m guessing maybe he’ll run into her as she is collecting things from the market. He/ She’ll recognize the other and they will realize that there is still hope! :D YAAAAAY!

he never tried to rescue her. he is as unworthy as she is of being called the hero of the story – in their mediocrity, they deserve each other.

AWWWWW!!!!! Darn you work! you made forget about the update!!!!! *Glomps Orland* but it’s all better now <3 <3 <3 <3

@spas: The sweetness of the story comes from the happiness the two lovers find despite the fact they think the other lost to them. They have to be, quite frankly, idiots now, in order to find each other, and have happiness later

Well, I could kind of buy Maleen sitting back for seven years when her father decided to lock her up, as she saw it as the consequence of her own actions… but I honestly don’t get why Orland wouldn’t go try to rescue her when he knew what had happened to her country.

Moving through a wartorn country to rescue one person would have been hard and it’s easy to assume that everyone in the castle was killed. That seemed to be what it looked like based on the ruins. As for why he didn’t rescue her before that, it was probably because it was her father that locked her up. In those days, filial piety (respect for one’s elders) and respect for authority were big. People did not get in the way of what others decided for their children. And people very, very rarely disobeyed royalty. Especially because it was believed they got their authority from the Almighty himself.

Oh, I totally understand why he wouldn’t go rescue her before the fall of the kingdom. Even if I think it’s a bit silly, I can buy it.

But after the country fell? He’s a prince. He’s clearly still moping about it, even seven years later. If I was his father, I’d give him a regiment to escort him, so he could go there and see if he could find his maid Maleen. If he did, and she’s still alive, well that’s good, she’s of noble birth and a suitable enough bride. If he finds out she’s dead, at least he’ll have closure. And if he didn’t find her at all, at least he would know he had tried and could get on with his life.

Actually, it comes across kind of as if the prince doesn’t even know what happened to her kingdom. Maybe his father kept it from him somehow, since even if Maleen was still alive, her royal blood wasn’t worth much now that her father had been deposed/killed and her country pretty much destroyed.
