    How’s the Handmaiden?

      Strangely enough, the original tale does not mention the chambermaid again once they are hired as scullions. ^^; Not even a hint, but I did wonder about that as well. She just kind of disappears after all the two went through together. O_o;

      Actually, Shannon Hale explores this in The Book of a Thousand Days. Very interesting.

        Yeah, Hale sort of eliminates the “repulsive rival bride” factor in favor of further developing the bond/dichotomy between the princess and her faithful attendant.

    I think its nice that Maleen keeps the necklace and is holding it in the last panel

    I love how Maleen looks in the 4th panel. She’s so beautiful!

    Sorry, gushing. Awesome work so far!

    Oh dear. She forgot the necklace in the rush! I hope she removes it lest she is blamed for stealing it because the new Queen seems like the kind of person to do that. I haven’t read the story and I don’t want to to prevent spoiling the ending. (:

    Wonderful job, m’dear~

    As much as folks were commenting about the prince not recognizing her, back when he FIRST saw her, when she was still under the veils, he commented to himself that she looked just like Maid Maleen. I think that is why there was no shock when he raised the veil.
    But isn’t he going to be surprised when he meets his new bride and realizes he must have been halusinating. That she looks NOTHING like his missing Maiden.

    You know what I find funny? Her name.
    Maleen sounds ligne the way one pronounces “maligne”, in French.
    “Maligne” means “smart girl” ^^

    I really love what you are doing with this web comic. I’ve always wanted to read the fairy tales the way the Brothers Grimm wrote them. Not all this sugar coated, damsel in distress bs that they have out today. I would also love to find the ones that they wrote that didn’t have happy endings…the ones that were meant to be scary. =^-^= Can’t wait to read the rest.

      You should check out the book ‘Grimm’s Grimmest.’ It’s about as dark as I’ve ever read the Brothers Grimm. I’ve been slowing making my way through the book, and really enjoying it. It’s got some interesting pictures too.

    I just started reading these this morning and I’ve loved them all. ♥
    Here I was joyfully thinking I’d have more to read only to find it’s not finished. Ack! Waiting for the next page already seems excruciating, but I definitely look forward to it! ^^
