If Norse mythology is anything to go by treat every visitor well because it might be a god in disguise. So you had better show that bear a good time ladies!

      My thoughts exactly.
And by “exactly”, I mean same two words, same comma, same capitalisation. The works.

The bear’s arrived from a fairy tale that just finished up a little ways over in the forest, and to even karma out a little, he intends to go nuts on this family’s chairs, beds, and porridge.

I love Rose’s reaction. Completely understandable… but quite hilarious. C:

Of Course, Red is the one sent to get the door. White is the homemaker and Red is the adventurous one. I think it is funny that they didn’t encounter a bear when they spent the entire night out in the woods but when they are quietly at home, the bear decides to come and hang out.

Apparently this bear didn’t the message that he is supposed to be HIBERNATING right now. :)

Well, if that was a Japanese bear, he’d be totally right to inquire about the whereabouts of the devil! (“Ah! Kuma!” vs “Akuma!”)

OK now technically that very well could be a traveler looking for shelter. Mom never specified a human traveler and in fairy tales, anything goes.

Well, that was unexpected. I love her scream, though–it reads to me as though she’s trying not to just shriek in the bear’s face.

    Mama, there’s a bear.
That’s not a nice thing to say, Rose Red.
It’s a real bear. Teeth and claws and all.
Be nice! Invite the traveler inside.
    But Mama, he’ll eat us!
Nonsense, dear. Come in, sir… ah! Bear!
    Told ya.
